Turkish jewelry industry realized exports worth $1.4 billion

The exports of the Turkish jewelry industry increased by 32.8% in the first four months of the year compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching $1 billion 380 million.

According to the information compiled from the Ministry of Commerce and the Turkish Exporters Assembly, the country’s exports in April increased by 109% compared to the same period last year, reaching $18.8 billion. This was recorded as the highest April export figure of all time. In the January-April period, Turkey’s exports amounted to $68.8 billion.

In this period, the increase in jewelry sector exports especially in the last 2 months was noteworthy. The sector made exports of $330 million 233 thousand in January, $305 million 387 thousand in February, $340 million 5 thousand in March and $404 million 523 thousand in April. In the January-April period of last year, jewelry exports were recorded as $1 billion 39 million 584 thousand.

Thus, the exports of the Turkish jewelry industry reached $1 billion 380 million 148 thousand with an increase of 32.8% in the first four months of the year compared to the same period of the previous year.

When the exports of the jewelry industry were examined on the basis of countries, it was seen that the USA ranked first. Exports to the USA in the January-April period increased by 28.5% compared to the same period last year, reaching $229 million 603 thousand.

The USA was followed by the United Arab Emirates with $185 million 354 thousand, Hong Kong with $119 million 672 thousand, Switzerland with $88 million 103 thousand and Libya with $80 million 607 thousand.

ISTANBUL HAD THE LION’S SHARE IN THE SECTOR EXPORTS

Istanbul ranked first in terms of province in terms of exports made by the jewelry industry in the January-April period. 92% of the total exports of the sector from Istanbul were realized.

In the January-April period, $1 billion 269 million 736 thousand of jewelry was exported from Istanbul. This province was followed by Corum with $55 million 300 thousand, Kastamonu with $18 million 108 thousand, Ankara with $13 million 711 thousand and Samsun with $8 million 197 thousand.
