In the first quarter of the year, an export of $2.7 billion was made from Ankara

Exports from Ankara in the January-March period of this year increased by 7% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $2.7 billion.

According to the information compiled by the AA correspondent from the data of the Ministry of Commerce and the Turkish Exporters Assembly, the country’s exports increased to $23.6 billion in March, despite the negative effects of the earthquakes that occurred on February 6. This figure was recorded as the highest monthly export of all time.

The country’s exports in the January-March period, on the other hand, increased by 2.5% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $61.6 billion.

Exports from Ankara in this period increased by about 7% compared to the January-March period of last year and reached $2 billion 716 million 902 thousand. In the same period of last year, $2 billion 538 million 669 thousand of foreign sales were made from the capital.

Analyzing the distribution of Ankara’s exports by country, it was seen that the USA was the country with the most foreign sales in the January-March period. In 3 months of the year, $267 million 421 thousand were exported to this country. Germany followed the USA with $221 million 657 thousand, China with $161 million 702 thousand and Russia with $129 million 121 thousand.

“Machinery and accessories” took the first place with $447 million 448 thousand in the export made from the capital in 3 months of the year. This sector was followed by “chemical substances and products” with $348 million 338 thousand, “automotive industry” with $321 million 709 thousand, and “electricity and electronics” with $258 million 63 thousand.

Ankara Young Businessmen Association (ANGIAD) President Ertugrul Onat told Anadolu Agency (AA) that exports contribute significantly to many economic balances, such as increasing production, profitability and employment.

Stating that exports contribute to the protection of the foreign trade balance of the countries, Onat said:

“This increase in exports is a very promising situation for the economy of Ankara and our country. As industrialists, we will continue our production-oriented works without slowing down in order to increase exports, which has a great role in accelerating economic growth. While going through an economically difficult process, the effort put forth by the business people of Ankara includes an effort that will save not only today but also tomorrow.”
