Sony unveils WF-C700 and blue WH-1000XM5 headphones

Sony today unveiled its latest wireless earbuds, the WF-C700, and its flagship noise-cancelling over-ear headphones, the WH-1000XM5, in Midnight Blue. The new TWS earbuds offer active noise cancellation with adaptive noise control. The latter controls the ANC, depending on what you are doing. For example, the WF-C700 will automatically switch to ambient mode when they detect you’re walking or waiting at a bus stop so you can hear announcements. As soon as you sit on the bus, they block out the ambient noise again.

The Sony WF-C700 weigh just 4.6 grams per earbud and pair via Bluetooth 5.2 with support for SBC and AAC audio codecs. Sony promises multi-point pairing with a future software update expected to arrive later this summer.

The WF-C700 also offer 360 Reality Spatial Audio, DSEE sound upscaling and equalizer fine-tuning via the Headphones Connect app. Also, both Sony earbuds have physical buttons that offer programmable single, double and hold taps. The battery life is 7.5 hours with ANC activated and 10 hours without noise cancellation. With the 300 mAh charging case, the runtime increases to 15 hours with ANC on and 20 hours with ANC off.
