Banking Sector’s Loan Volume Reaches 12 Trillion 52 Billion Liras Last Week

According to the weekly bulletin published by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA), the credit volume of the banking sector increased by 43 billion 179 million liras last week, reaching a total of 12 trillion 52 billion 166 million liras.

The report, compiled by Serhat Tutak, indicates that as of February 16, the sector’s credit volume experienced a significant uptick from 12 trillion 8 billion 987 million liras to the current 12 trillion 52 billion 166 million liras.

During the same period, the total deposit amount in the banking sector, including interbank transactions, increased by 211 billion 745 million liras last week, reaching a total of 15 trillion 78 billion 187 million liras.

The total amount of consumer loans decreased by 308 million liras to 1 trillion 538 billion 686 million liras as of February 16. Within this category, 436 billion 892 million liras were related to housing loans, 92 billion 890 million liras were for vehicle loans, and 1 trillion 8 billion 903 million liras constituted miscellaneous personal loans.

The figure for installment commercial loans increased by 7 billion 863 million liras, reaching a total of 1 trillion 479 billion 344 million liras during this period.

Banks’ individual credit card receivables decreased by 0.5%, totaling 1 trillion 244 billion 733 million liras. Among these receivables, 555 billion 373 million liras were attributed to installment debts, while 689 billion 359 million liras were non-installment debts.

In terms of regulatory capital, the banking sector saw an increase in legal equity by 16 billion 574 million liras, reaching a total of 2 trillion 635 billion 725 million liras as of February 16.

The report also highlights a reduction in non-performing loans, which decreased by 301 million liras compared to the previous week, amounting to 196 billion 754 million liras. Out of this total, 160 billion 269 million liras were allocated as special reserves.
