Carpet Exporters Conduct Business Meetings in West Africa, Target Market

Zeynal Abidin Kaplan, President of the Southeastern Anatolia Carpet Exporters’ Association, stated in a written statement that member companies of the association, which carry out a significant portion of carpet production in Turkey, successfully completed their business meetings in West African countries, which have been identified as target markets, with the support of the Ministry of Trade.

Kaplan expressed that a delegation of 27 people conducted various meetings in Mauritania and Senegal, West African countries, for a week. He mentioned that carpet exporters, who had to pause their international activities for a while after the earthquake, organized trade delegations to Kenya, Tanzania, Malaysia, Australia, and India, and this time turned their focus to West Africa.

Highlighting the significance of the carpet sector, which directly and indirectly provides employment for over 100,000 individuals in Turkey, Kaplan stated, “In our pursuit of new markets to secure the future of our valuable sector and ensure sustainable exports, our most important target was the African market consisting of 54 countries, and the meetings held here were successful.”
