Turkiye: Eastern Black Sea’s 10-month honey export increased by 81%

Honey exports from the Eastern Black Sea region in the January-October period increased by 81% compared to the same period last year, reaching $2 million 513 thousand 142.

Ahmet Hamdi Gurdogan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, told the AA correspondent that 874 tons of honey were exported from the region in 10 months of the year.

Emphasizing that $2 million 513 thousand 142 were earned from the export in question, Gurdogan said, “In the same period last year, $1 million 391 thousand 702 of income was obtained from 585 tons of honey export from our region. Thus, our honey exports increased by 49% in quantity and 81% in value.”

The three countries that export the most honey are the USA, Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Gurdogan pointed out that honey was sold to 13 countries from the Eastern Black Sea region in 10 months and stated that the USA, Israel and Saudi Arabia were in the top three places among these countries.

Stating that $1 million 141 thousand 185 were exported from the region to the USA in return for 432 tons of honey, Gurdogan noted that honey exports to the USA increased by 4% in quantity and 52% in value compared to the same period of the previous year, when an income of $748 thousand 718 was obtained in return for 415 tons.

Gurdogan stated that unlike the same period last year, honey was also exported to Israel and Saudi Arabia this period. He stated that the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Jordan, Belgium, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Kingdom, Azerbaijan and the Netherlands are other countries where honey is sold.

Mentioning that there is only a short time left to complete the year, Gurdogan added that honey exports can be further increased with product diversity, organic product, geographically indicated products and branded product exports.
