Message from Minister Bolat to continue working with export-oriented reforms

Minister of Commerce Omer Bolat stated that within the scope of the Economy Coordination Board (EKK) meeting, the legislative studies carried out to regulate the crypto asset ecosystem and the steps to be taken regarding the Public Economic Enterprises (SOE) reform were discussed.

Minister Bolat said, “We will continue our work with determination in the coming period with structural reforms focused on investment, employment, production and exports.”

In his post on his social media account X, Bolat stated that they held the first EKK meeting of 2024 under the chairmanship of Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz.

Stating that within the scope of the meeting, the legislative studies carried out to regulate the crypto asset ecosystem and the steps to be taken regarding SOE reform were discussed, Bolat said, “In 2023, our exports exceeded the Medium Term Program (MTP) forecast with $255.8 billion, breaking the record in the history of the Republic.”

Bolat stated that the country’s imports entered a downward trend, especially with the decisions and policies taken in the second half of the year, and were well below the MTP forecast.

Pointing out that there has been a significant decline in the current account deficit, especially as of the second half of 2023, with the strong performance in Turkiye’s services revenues, Bolat said, “We will continue our work in effective coordination with structural reforms focused on investment, employment, production and exports in the coming period.”
