Digital Applications for Taxes Accelerate Processes and Increase Savings

The Revenue Administration Presidency (GİB) increased its online service offerings with the Digital Tax Office application, leading to a total of 43.3 million transactions through electronic applications last year. The savings achieved solely from postage expenses have reached 3.2 billion Turkish Lira since 2016.

According to information obtained by the AA correspondent from GİB, the institution’s online service efforts were crowned with the Digital Tax Office application. Starting from October 7, 2023, access to applications such as Interactive Tax Office, Internet Tax Office, Ready Declaration System, Ledger-Declaration System, e-Declaration, previously accessed using a user code and password, was provided through the Digital Tax Office.

This consolidation allowed services provided by GİB in electronic form to be brought together under a single roof. With Digital Tax Office, access to more than 350 services became available, and this transformation received significant attention from taxpayers. Last year, 11.8 million petitions were submitted electronically. Additionally, 8.5 million “No Debt” and 1.4 million “tax liability” certificates were obtained electronically.

A total of 130.9 million documents have been electronically notified since 2016, with 23.4 million in 2023 alone. This has led to savings of 3.2 billion Turkish Lira solely from postage expenses. Moreover, in 2023, 43.3 million online transactions were conducted through GİB systems, resulting in a total of 146.8 billion Turkish Lira in tax and fee payments.

“Quick Payment” Options Facilitate Transactions

Taxpayers can access the Digital Tax Office via both the “dijital.gib.gov.tr” website and the “GİB Mobile” application available in application stores. Through the Digital Tax Office, taxpayers can pay taxes and fees in two ways.

In the first method, taxpayers entering the Digital Tax Office can select the desired debt and make a payment with a credit card. In the second method, taxpayers can complete their transaction by entering the “Quick Payment” area on the Digital Tax Office without logging in.

The Digital Tax Office was designed with up-to-date and new technologies, as well as open-source software, and is compatible with all mobile devices. Additionally, the “GİB Mobile” application was revised with the same approach, with screens related to tax and fee payments being rearranged.
