Turkiye’s sea snail exports exceeded $20 million

Income from sea snail exports in the January-November period increased by 33% compared to the same period last year, reaching $20 million 555 thousand 659. South Korea was the country that exported the most sea snails with $10 million 507 thousand 780.

Ahmet Hamdi Gurdogan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, said that 1873 tons of sea snails were exported from Turkiye in 11 months of the year.

Stating that $20 million 555 thousand 659 of income was obtained from the export in question, Gurdogan said, “In the same period last year, $15 million 478 thousand 635 were earned for 1836 tons. Accordingly, Turkiye’s 11-month sea snail exports increased by 2% in quantity and 33% in income. “

Gurdogan noted that sea snails were sold to 10 countries from Turkiye this period and continued as follows:

“The Republic of South Korea was the country that exported the most sea snails with $10 million 507 thousand 780. This country was followed by the People’s Republic of China with $3 million 339 thousand 944 and Spain with $2 million 710 thousand 11. This period, unlike last year, sea snails were also sold to Ukraine, Romania, Azerbaijan and TRNC.”

Pointing out that $12 million 205 thousand 298 of sea snail exports were made from the Black Sea, Gurdogan stated that exports were made from the region to 5 countries, especially the Republic of South Korea.

Gurdogan emphasized that although sea snails are not consumed in the country, they are at the forefront with their exports, and added that it is important to provide the necessary support to exporters to further increase foreign sales.
