Turkiye: Foreign trade indices for August were announced

Export unit value index decreased by 1.8% and import unit value index decreased by 16.1% in August compared to the same month of the previous year.

Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the foreign trade indices for August.

Accordingly, the export unit value index decreased by 1.8% in August compared to the same month of the previous year. The index decreased by 1.2% in food, beverages and tobacco compared to the same month of the previous year. It decreased by 16.0% in raw materials (excluding fuel), decreased by 19.9% in fuels, and increased by 0.8% in the manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverages and tobacco).

Export quantity index increased by 3.4% in August compared to the same month of the previous year. The index increased by 9.4% in food, beverages and tobacco compared to the same month of the previous year, and decreased by 7.2% in raw materials (excluding fuel), increased by 28.3% in fuels and by 0.3% in the manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverages and tobacco).

Import unit value index decreased by 16.1%

Import unit value index decreased by 16.1% in August compared to the same month of the previous year. The index decreased by 10.7% in food, beverages and tobacco compared to the same month of the previous year, decreased by 46.1% in fuels, by 16.3% in raw materials (excluding fuel), and by 4.4% in the manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverages and tobacco).

Import quantity index increased by 10.9% in August compared to the same month of the previous year. The index increased by 1.1% in food, beverages and tobacco compared to the same month of the previous year, decreased by 20.0% in raw materials (excluding fuel), increased by 13.2% in fuels, and increased by 11.5% in the manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverages and tobacco).
