Vertical garden system to be supported in Turkey’s Cities: Minister

Environment and Urban Planning Minister Murat Kurum said, “We support the spread of environmental and climate-friendly practices such as ecological, aesthetic, and economic vertical gardens in our cities.”

Environment and Urban Planning Minister Murat Kurum shared on his Twitter account the benefits of the vertical garden system to the environment and the ecological system.

In his sharing he said, “We support the spread of environmental and climate-friendly applications such as ecological, aesthetic, economic, vertical gardening in our cities.” Kurum provided the following information:

“It reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Contributes to the protection of habitat and biological diversity. It prevents air pollution caused by production, heating, and traffic. It takes the toxic gases, dirt, and dust in the air and gives back cleaned air to the environment. It becomes a particle filter and dirty air buffer. It reduces carbon dioxide and increases oxygen. It greatly reduces the electromagnetic radiation entering buildings.

It reduces the negative effects of heat islands in cities. It becomes a barrier to noise pollution. It breaks the cold by reducing heat losses due to wind. It saves energy by reducing the amount of heat lost in buildings. It gives aesthetics and beautifies the area with its numerous and alternative design possibilities. It creates an additional habitat for birds and butterflies.”
