Pasta industry aims to reach $1 billion in exports

Aykut Goymen, President of the Turkish Pasta Industrialists Association (TMSD), stated that their sector has been the locomotive of the food industry since the establishment of the Republic and that they are targeting an export of $1 billion.

In his message published on the occasion of 29 October Republic Day and the 100th anniversary of the Republic, Goymen emphasized that Turkiye’s pasta industry has been the locomotive of the Turkish food industry since the first years of the Republic.

Stating that the pasta industry started with the factory established in Izmir’s Bayrakli district in 1922, Goymen stated that large enterprises were established between 1960 and 1970 and high-capacity pasta production took place.

Pointing out that the pasta industry made a breakthrough in production in the 1990s and turned to exports, Goymen said:

“Under the leadership of TMSD, our pasta industry has risen to the second place in the world in pasta production and exports, this is a great success story. 30 production facilities in our industry have developed world-class brands and made our country a brand country of pasta. Our sector, which directly and indirectly employs 50 thousand people and exports to more than 160 countries, has an economic value of $1.5 billion. Our industry exported around $700 millionin the first 9 months of 2023. Our year-end export target is $1 billion. We aim to carry our success to the world export leadership by continuing to be one of the world’s most stable food suppliers in the Turkiye Century, producing with the excitement of the first day and creating added value.”
