US international trade deficit at $87.3B in August

Both exports, imports post monthly declines

The US posted an international trade deficit of $87.3 billion in August, down by $2.9 billion from July, according to the Commerce Department figures released on Wednesday.

The figure remained unchanged compared to August 2021.

The country’s exports totaled $179.8 billion in August 2022, down 0.9% on a monthly basis and up by 20.8% on a yearly basis.

The country’s imports amounted to $267.11 billion,decreasing 1.7% from July and up 13.1% compared to August 2021.
