4 of 6 indices post increases, Indian and Singaporean indices decrease
Major Asian stock markets closed Wednesday with mixed figures.
The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, added 18.54 points, or 0.54%, to reach 3,443.57 at 1126GMT.
Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 stock exchange increased 290.34 points, or 1.04%, to 28,234.29 points.
The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, was the best performer of the day, rising 482.92 points, or 2.24%, to 22,014.59.
China’s Shanghai Stock Exchange increased 22.03 points, or 0.68%, to close at 3,263.79 points.
The Indian Sensex benchmark lost 214.85 points, or 0.39%, to end the day at 54,892.49.
The Singapore index decreased 5.74 points, or 0.18%, to finish at 3,225.80 points.
