Turkey is one of the 4 countries that increased their exports in the pandemic period: Turkey Exporters Assembly

Turkey Exporters Assembly (TIM) Chairman Ismail Shot, talked about the export data and stated that the November 2020 export figure was just below from the November 2019. Noting that there was a limited decrease in November exports, especially as the second wave of the pandemic was more severe than the first wave and the measures taken by the countries brought the decrease in consumption expenditures, Gulle continued as follows:

‘’ We had reached very high numbers in daily export figures. Our exports in November amounted to 16 billion 88 million dollars. Currently, we have made our November export in this way due to the pandemic. As of the third quarter of this year, we are one of the 4 countries that increased its exports in the world, we are proud of this. It was realized with important supports and the great devotion of our exporters. We thank our President and our government for these supports. There is a decrease in all major exporting countries in the world. Naturally, we see that the effects of this are reflected in the growth figures of the third quarter.

Despite the negative impact of the decline in service exports, we see an extremely good growth figure with the increases in manufacturing and production industry indices. We will see the net contribution of exports to growth in the 4th quarter. Hopefully, we will continue our exports successfully, unless extraordinary things happen in the world in December. The pandemic period has made very serious increases in the hygiene sector. In this process, our export level in the relevant field approached the level of a billion dollars. When we compare our exports last month with the month of November of the previous year, there is an increase of 200 percent with cleaning, disinfectant products, masks, overalls and breathing apparatus. That’s why we are performing successfully here.’’

‘’ The highest monthly export was made in the fresh fruit and vegetable sector. ‘’

Gulle expressed that the fresh fruit and vegetable sector made the highest export on a monthly basis in November. Underlining that 17 sectors in 29 sectors increased their exports in the export figures of November, Gülle said:

‘’ There is an increase in almost all of our agricultural sectors. At the same time, there is an increase of nearly 20 percent in the steel sector. There is an increase of over 10 percent in the electronics sector. There is a slight increase in the automotive sector. Our ready-to-wear industry is almost at the same level as last year. The direct success of these sectors has led to this figure.’’

Gulle noted that the jewelry industry remained on a decline during this period and that there was an increase in the electronics and non-ferrous metals sector.

‘’ We set out with the motto of ‘Turkey in foreign trade surplus’.  ‘’

Gulle stated that a successful performance was seen in November exports as there was an increase in most of the sectors. Noting that 1726 people recently joined the export family in November, Gülle stated that their contribution to exports was $ 88 million 193 thousand in November.

Gulle emphasized that having this much participation every month, the spread of exports to the base, Turkey’s exports in all provinces and provinces competing one another have had many contributions to the export family and very pleased them. He explained that they have held virtual trade delegation meetings in 44 countries so far. Güllü noted the following:

‘’ We have grown thousands of our companies. We held about 7800 job interviews here. I hope that the effect of these will contribute significantly to our exports. The ratio of exports to imports is 87 percent, excluding gold. We set off with the motto of ‘Turkey in foreign trade surplus’. Hopefully, as we continue on our way with this goal, the ratio of exports to imports will reach higher levels. I wholeheartedly believe that if the developments regarding the epidemic turn out to be positive in the European Union, which is our main export market, we will reach very high export figures again. ‘’
