Turkiye’s Borsa Istanbul up at Tuesday close

BIST 100 gains more than 23 points from previous close

Turkiye’s benchmark stock index ended Tuesday at 1,969.91 points, up 1.22% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 1,969.13 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index earned 23.72 points from Monday’s close of 1,946.19 points.

The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,946.48 points, while its daily high was 1,994.28.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.56 trillion Turkish liras ($113 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 33.6 billion Turkish liras ($2.4 billion).

During the second transaction day of the week, 61 stocks on the index rose, 35 fell, and four remained unchanged compared to Monday’s close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, iron and steel producer Eregli, and private lender Garanti BBVA.

Real estate investment firm Is Bankasi Gayrimenkul Yatirim was the best performer of the day with its shares up 10%, while airport operator TAV Airports Holding saw the biggest drop 3.8%.

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,930 by market close, up from $1,907.30 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $104.41 per barrel with a 6.5% gain as of 6.25 p.m. local time (1525GMT).
