Turkiye’s Borsa Istanbul flat at Friday’s close

BIST 100 sheds nearly 0.7 points from previous close

Turkiye’s benchmark stock index ended Friday at 2,175.51 points, down slightly by 0.03% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 2,181.31 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index lost 0.69 points from Thursday’s close of 2,176.20 points.

The index’s lowest value during the day was 2,173.64 points, while its daily high was 2,195.23.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.77 trillion Turkish liras ($119.2 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 23.14 billion Turkish liras ($1.56 billion).

During the last transaction day of the week, 43 stocks on the index rose,52 fell and five were unchanged compared to the previous close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by iron and steel producer Kardemir, flag carrier Turkish Airlines and Eregli, another steel manufacturer.

Bus producer Karsan was the best performer, with its shares up 10%, while stocks of paper manufacturer Kartosan saw the biggest drop of 2.88%.

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,959, while Brent crude oil was at around $119.7 per barrel as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT).
