easyJet & Jet2 To Expand At Manchester Airport

easyJet and Jet2 are adding routes out of Manchester Airport. For easyJet, this is in part due to the improved capabilities of the A320neo.

  • Manchester Airport is expanding its services with new destinations offered by low-cost carriers easyJet and Jet2, providing more travel options for passengers in North West England.
  • easyJet is adding a 22nd aircraft, an Airbus A320neo, to expand its network of destinations from Manchester Airport, including Skiathos, Kittila, and Istanbul.
  • The expansion will create job opportunities, contribute to the local economy, and offer environmentally friendly flights with easyJet’s A320neo aircraft.

Manchester Airport is about to enjoy an expansion from low-cost carriers easyJet and Jet2. The airport is expanding to service new destinations from North West England.

easyJet expanding its routes from North West England

The first part of the Manchester Airport expansion, according to TheBusinessDesk.com and Marketing Stockport, is easyJet’s expansion of its base to add a 22nd aircraft – an Airbus A320neo.

With 26 destinations served, easyJet is creating a solid network of destinations from the Greek island of Skiathos to Kittila in Lapland, Finland, and Istanbul, Turkiye, in the Mediterranean with sandy beaches. Flights to Skiathos, Kittila, and Istanbul are twice a week throughout the winter, allowing for a choose-your-adventure via flying with the budget airline.

As Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, shared in an airline statement,

“We continue to see opportunity to offer our customers in the North West even more choice, which is why we are delighted to announce the expansion of our aircraft fleet in Manchester and more new routes for our network. This is a testament to our focus on providing great value and convenient connectivity from Manchester while continuing to support job opportunities for the local economy.”

Gayward also shared that seats went on sale starting November 30. Robert Smith, Aviation Director at Manchester Airport, shared the sentiment when the news broke of the new Finnish destination of Lapland in July,

“We know a family trip to Lapland is on many of our passengers’ Christmas lists, so it’s fantastic to see easyJet launching a service from Manchester to Kittilä this winter. This new service demonstrates easyJet’s commitment to providing outstanding choice year-round to passengers flying from Manchester.”

A320neos helping with easyJet growth

See, easyJet’s new flights will likely be conducted via easyJet’s Airbus A320neo aircraft, which are both more environmentally friendly with 50% less noise and will create around 40 local jobs for the English North West. Additionally, the A320neo comes with additional range capability versus the A320ceo original for supporting more routes. Many details of the A320neo’s new abilities can be found via the link below:

Additionally, as of last July, 20% of the easyJet fleet are A320neo family aircraft. A check of the ch-aviation database on December 2 shows it’s now almost 30%. easyJet expects to take delivery of about 19 A320neo family planes by the end of 2024 and a further 27 in 2025.

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays also growing

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are also adding new routes to Marrakech, Morocco, next year and, in summer 2025, Pula and the Istrian Coast in Croatia. The holiday airline does offer package deals to Croatia, combining airfare and lodging.

As Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, explained,

“We are incredibly excited to add Pula and the Istrian Coast to our Summer 25 programme from Manchester Airport. We are experiencing strong demand from customers and independent travel agents in the North West for Summer 25, as they make the most of being able to book ahead and get a much-deserved holiday locked in the diary.”
