Commercial areas in metro stations are opened to tender

Metro stations in Istanbul are opening up to brands and entrepreneurs. The metro areas, which serve more than 2.5 million passengers a day at 189 stations on 16 lines, will become one of the trade centers that are open for 18 hours every day of the week.

Speaking at the press conference at Metro Istanbul Alibeykoy Campus, Metro Istanbul General Manager Ozgur Soy said that commercial areas at metro stations will be put into operation.

Noting that they determined which commercial areas and where they are needed through analyzes, Soy said, “Our goal is to find the right operators in these areas, to complete the opening of 132 stores within 3 months, and to bring them to life.”

Noting that opening a store in metro areas will be a profitable investment for every operator, Soy stated that this tender will provide serious business opportunities and employment for entrepreneurs.

Stating that there are 20 thousand passengers daily only at Gayrettepe Station, Metro Istanbul General Manager Soy said, “Each of these passengers pass in front of the designated commercial areas. We offer the opportunity to open stores in our metro stations, which are never closed even during the pandemic process. I think it will be a profitable investment for many brands, from chain stores to boutique businesses.”

“BIDS WILL BE COLLECTED ON JULY 12”

Stating that the vending machine tender will be held on July 14, Soy stated that the tender for 32 stores, which is the first stage, will be completed on August 4.

Hakan Orhun, Deputy General Manager of IMM Metro Istanbul, said that the tender was published on June 24, bids will be collected on July 12 and concluded on July 14.

Stating that the next tender will be concluded on August 4, Orhun said, “The scope of this tender covers 5 commercial areas at 3 different stations. We have 5 important commercial areas at our Mecidiyekoy, Kartal and Uskudar stations. Our third tender is our 2 thousand 365 square meter areas consisting of 48 groups with 127 stores in 83 stations on the M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M7, M9 and cable car lines.”
