Turkiye: In the first half of the year, exports of 67 provinces increased

Turkiye’s exports approached $126 billion in the first half of the year. In the first half, 67 out of 81 provinces throughout the country increased their exports, while the decrease was in the single digits in 6 provinces.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), Turkey’s exports approached $126 billion in January-June 2022, with an increase of 20% compared to the same period of the previous year.

In this period, exports made on the basis of provinces (excluding exports from free zones) increased by 19.2% and rose to $114 billion 5 million.

In the first half, 67 out of 81 provinces throughout the country increased their exports, while the decrease was in the single digits in 6 provinces.

Export leader was Istanbul

In the January-June period, Istanbul made the highest export with $49.95 billion.

Istanbul was followed by Kocaeli with $10.15 billion, Bursa with $7.92 billion and Izmir with $7.14 billion.

Ankara ranks fifth with $5.35 billion, Gaziantep sixth with $5.2 billion, Sakarya seventh with $2.63 billion, eighth with $2.53 billion, Manisa ninth with $2.52 billion and Hatay ranked tenth with $1.94 billion.

In the top 10, the highest increase is from Kocaeli, the only decrease is from Manisa

Considering the first 10 provinces, the highest increase was experienced in Kocaeli with 29.4%. Kocaeli was followed by Hatay with 26.7%, Izmir with 26.4% and Istanbul with 22.7%.

The increase in exports was 20.4% in Ankara, 18.5% in Denizli, 7.7% in Gaziantep, 6% in Bursa and 1.8% in Sakarya.

Among the top 10 cities with the most exports, Manisa was the only province with a decrease of 3%.

15 cities’ exports exceeded $1 billion

In the January-June period, exports of only two cities across the country reached double digits. 15 provinces exceeded the $1 billion limit. Kayseri, Konya, Adana, Mersin and Antalya were among the cities that exported more than $1 billion apart from the top 10.

The province with the highest increase in exports in terms of value was Istanbul with $9.23 billion, followed by Kocaeli with $2.31 billion.

237% increase from Yozgat and 157% from Bingol

In the first half of the year, Yozgat was the province that increased its exports the most on a proportional basis with 237.1%. The exports of this city increased from $9.3 million to $31.2 million.

Yozgat was followed by Bingol with 157.2% and Kars with 100.6%. Thus, in the January-June period, the rate of increase in 3 provinces across the country was over 100%.

Bitlis with 95.7%, Nevsehir with 86.6%, Tunceli with 84.05% and Corum with 73%, Kilis with 63.4%, Kirsehir with 58.7% and Aksaray with 57.1% were among the top 10 provinces that increased their exports the most.
