Stellantis to Unveil Citroen e-C3, First Affordable European-Made EV

Stellantis will unveil its first European-made affordable electric vehicle, the Citroen e-C3, in mid-October. The car will be priced under €25,000, making it a direct competitor to Chinese-made EVs such as the Renault Dacia Spring and the MG ZS EV. The e-C3 will be based on Stellantis’ “smart car” architecture, which is also used for the Citroen C3 Aircross and the Peugeot 208. The car will have a range of 300 kilometers (186 miles) and will be available in both hatchback and SUV body styles.

Stellantis is hoping to sell 50,000 of its new electric vehicle, the e-C3, per year in Europe. The car will be assembled in Slovakia and will launch in early 2024. The arrival of the e-C3 is a sign that Stellantis is serious about increasing its presence in the electric vehicle market. The company has already announced plans to invest €30 billion in electrification by 2025.

The European electric vehicle market is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years. The European Union has set a goal of banning the sale of new gasoline and diesel cars by 2035. This is expected to create a major opportunity for automakers that are able to produce affordable electric cars.
