Germany did not give up leadership

Guinea was followed by Ivory Coast with 36 kilograms and Cameroon with 46 kilograms.

One of the markets that has shown the most development in hazelnut exports in recent years has been China.

Last year, 8 thousand 950 tons of hazelnuts were sold to China, which is in the 9th place in the ranking after European countries, and $66 million 102 thousand 881 were earned.

“We need to expand outside Europe”

Hamza Boluk, President of Giresun Commodity Exchange, told the AA correspondent that hazelnuts are among the most important export products of Turkiye.

Stating that hazelnuts meet 10% of agricultural exports and therefore are a vital product for Turkiye, Boluk said, “Last year, around $1.9 billion of income was generated from the sale of approximately 283 thousand 519 tons of hazelnuts.”

Boluk stated that there is no big change in the export countries and said, “Germany is again the leading country. Italy, France and Poland follow. We can sell our hazelnuts mostly in Europe.”

Emphasizing the need to turn to new markets in hazelnut exports, Boluk made the following evaluation:

“We need to increase our hazelnut sales to the countries that are at the bottom of the list of countries we sell to. We need to expand outside Europe. More advertising and promotions are needed here.”
