Kosovo made the most imports from Turkiye

While Kosovo imported €5.8 billion in 2023, Turkiye ranked first among the countries with the most imports.

Kosovo Customs Director Agron Llugaliu said at the press conference where he made an end-of-year evaluation that his country mostly imports from Turkiye.

Noting that Kosovo imported €5.8 billion in 2023, €792 million of which came from Turkiye, Llugaliu stated that Germany ranked second and China ranked third.

Llugaliu stated that they collected €1.6 billion in customs taxes for the country budget in 2023, an increase of approximately 9% from last year, and exports amounted to €891 million.

Sharing that 9 customs employees were detained this year, Llugaliu noted that goods worth €14.5 million were also seized.

Kosovo Minister of Finance, Labor and Transfers Hekuran Murati, who was present at the press conference, emphasized that the customs did an excellent job in contributing to the country’s budget and fighting against smuggling and corruption throughout the year.

Turkiye was the country from which Kosovo imported the most in 2022.

The agreement stipulating free trade between Kosovo and Turkiye entered into force in 2019.
