Teknofest Azerbaijan set to host competitions, exhibitions, and air shows

This May Turkiye’s major technology and aviation fair is officially expanding to neighboring Azerbaijan, according to event organizers.

Teknofest, first held on Turkish soil in 2018, will hit the Azerbaijani capital Baku on May 26-29.

The four-day Teknofest Azerbaijan will feature 10 technology competitions in fields such as rockets, agriculture, and unmanned aerial vehicles.

2021 saw Azerbaijan take part in Turkiye’s Teknofest for the first time with 11 local companies and startups.

At the Baku event, companies and entrepreneurs will showcase their products and technical solutions.

On the entertainment side, the festival will include aerobatic flight shows from the Azerbaijani Air Force, the Turkish Air Force Turkish Stars and Solo Turk, a vertical wind tunnel, water attractions, flight simulators, and robots.

Example of friendship

Resat Nebiyev, Azerbaijan’s transport, communications, and high technology minister, said expanding Teknofest to Azerbaijan is a clear example of friendship, brotherhood, and strategic alliance between the two countries.

Speaking at an introductory event on Monday, he said the event will encourage Azerbaijani young people’s interest in science, technology and innovation.

Selcuk Bayraktar, chairman of the board of the Turkish Technology Team event organizer, said Teknofest is growing every day and getting serious cooperation offers.

He underlined: “If we’re going to hold the event outside of Turkiye, we must first do it in the lands of our dear (Turkic) brothers and sisters with whom we have shared a destiny.

“For this reason, we are holding the first Teknofest outside of Turkiye in Azerbaijan.”

Turkish Teknofest is held in the metropolis of Istanbul in odd years and other Turkish cities in even years.

This year, the event will be held in the Black Sea city of Samsun between Aug. 30 and Sept. 4.

Anadolu Agency has been the event’s global communication partner since 2018.
