$46.3 million worth of Turkish salmon exported from the Eastern Black Sea Region in 5 months

Turkish salmon of $46 million 312 thousand 374 was exported to 15 countries from the Eastern Black Sea region in the January-May period.

Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKIB) Board Member and Fisheries Sector Committee Chairman İsmail Kobya told Anadolu Agency (AA) that 6,804 tons of Turkish salmon were exported from the Eastern Black Sea Region in 5 months of the year.

Pointing out that $46 million 312 thousand 374 of foreign exchange inflow was obtained from the foreign sales in question, Kobya stated that Turkish salmon exports increased by 199% in quantity and 187% in value compared to the same period of the previous year, with an income of $16 million 150 thousand 72 corresponding to 2 thousand 273 tons.

Noting that Turkish salmon was sold to 15 countries from the Eastern Black Sea region this period, Kobya said, “Russian Federation, Vietnam and Belarus were the top 3 countries to which exports were made. In this period, 39 million 752 thousand 496 Turkish salmon were sold to the Russian Federation from our region, $2 million 952 thousand 529 to Vietnam and $2 million 525 thousand 983 to Belarus.”

“Our aim is to increase country diversity in Turkish salmon”

Drawing attention to the diversity of countries in Turkish salmon exports, Kobya noted that exports were also made to Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia, Germany, the Republic of South Korea, Qatar and Israel, different from the same period last year.

Kobya stated that their aim is to increase the diversity of countries in exports, and in this context, as DKIB, they aim to increase exports to countries that import the most fish, especially China and the USA, with both fair participation and trade delegation programs.

Pointing out that Turkish salmon has gained great popularity in foreign markets in recent years, Kobya added that exports are increasing every month in line with demand.
