The agricultural sector, which broke export records in 2022, started this year with a rise.
Especially after the start of the Russia-Ukraine war, Turkiye continued its agricultural exports at full speed, despite geopolitical risks, concerns about supply, and difficulty in accessing food globally.
Despite the protectionist policies of the countries, the Turkish agricultural sector continued its effective foreign trade policy. Trade delegations organized to countries were also among the leading factors that enabled Turkiye to break records in foreign sales.
Demand for agricultural products continues to break records.
Turkiye’s agricultural sector achieved the highest January export of all time with $2 billion 875 million. Agricultural exports, which increased by 12.8% in January compared to the same period of the previous year, took a 14.8% share from Turkiye’s total export sales.

Cereals, pulses, oil seeds and products realized the highest January exports of all time with $989 million 465 thousand, furniture, paper and forest products with $626 million 716 thousand fresh fruit and vegetables $325 million 101 thousand, dried fruits and products $128 million 117 thousand, olives and olive oil $119 million 781 thousand, ornamental plants and products $13 million 964 thousand.
In January, compared to the same period of the previous year, exports increased by 19.3% in cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products, fresh fruit and vegetables by 14.3%, and dried fruits and products by 7.3%, olive and olive oil sector 219.2%, ornamental plants and products 12.5%, furniture, paper and forest products 12.4%.
The exports of the fresh fruit and vegetable sector exceeded $100 million.
Iraq, the Russian Federation, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands came to the fore in the record-breaking sectors in agriculture.
Cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products exported to Iraq amounted to $164 million 32 thousand, and furniture, paper and forestry products to $76.3 million.
Fresh fruit and vegetable sector exported $102.9 million to the Russian Federation.
Dried fruits and products exported to Germany amounted to $16.8 million, olive and olive oil to Spain $45.1 million, and ornamental plants and products to the Netherlands $3.8 million.
