Turkish stock market up at midweek open

BIST 100 index gains 6.5 points compared to previous close

Turkiye’s benchmark stock index opened at 2,440.15 points on Wednesday, up 0.27%, or 6.53 points, from the previous close, after a break for the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index increased by 0.35% to 2.434,02 points at Friday’s close,with a daily trading volume of 8.7 billion liras ($500 million).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 17.3717 as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) from 16.3210 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 17.4524 from 17.5700, while a British pound traded for 20.7118 Turkish liras, down from 20.7350 at the previous close.

Brent crude oil was up 1.8% to $105.8 per barrel.
