Turkish stock market ends Thursday with new record

BIST 100 index jumps 1.46% from previous close

Turkey’s benchmark stock index Borsa Istanbul posted a new record closing of 2,723.67 points on Thursday.

Starting the day at 2,709.01 points, the BIST 100 index rose 39.21 points from Wednesday’s all-time high closing of 2,684.46.

The total market value was 2.2 trillion Turkish liras ($121.2 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of over 43.2 billion Turkish liras ($2.4 billion).

One ounce of gold traded for $1,783.90 by market close,according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was at $92.6 per barrel as of 7 p.m. local time (1600GMT).
