Turkish stock market closes with new records on Tuesday

BIST 100 rises over 14 points to hit new record high closing

Turkiye’s benchmark stock index Borsa Istanbul on Tuesday gained 0.6% to close at a new record high level of 2,463.76 points, after hitting a fresh intraday all-time high of 2,474.70 points.

Starting the day at 2,449.34 points,the BIST 100 index increased 14.65 points from Monday’s close of 2,449.11 points.

The index’s lowest value during the day was 2,421.54 points, while its daily high was 2,474.70 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was more than 2 trillion Turkish liras ($136 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of over 60.4 billion Turkish liras ($4.1 billion).

During the second transaction day of the week, 49 stocks on the index rose, 43 fell, and eight remained unchanged compared to Monday’s close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and private lenders Garanti BBVA and Yapi Kredi.

Conglomerate Anadolu Grubu Holding was the best performer of the day with its shares up 7.47%, while Is Gayrimenkul Yatirim Ortakligi saw the biggest drop, 10%.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,951.50 by market close, down from $1,965 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was $105.16 per barrel for a 6.8% daily gain as of 6.05 p.m. local time (1505GMT).
