Turkish stock exchange closes Friday in red

BIST 100 index loses 4.2 points from previous close, ending 2-day winning streak

Turkiye’s benchmark stock index closed at 2,864.25 points on Friday, down 0.15% from the previous close.

Ending its two-day winning streak, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index posted a rise of 4.14% this week.

After starting the day at 2,873.74. points, the index lost 4.19 points from Thursday’s record-high close of 2,868.44 points.

During the day, the index’s lowest value was 2,840.99, while its daily high was 2,896.67.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 2.3 trillion Turkish liras ($127.2 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 50.1 billion liras ($2.8 billion).

One ounce of gold traded for $1,790.35 by market close, dragged down by a sharp decrease in the US dollar, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $97.9 per barrel as of 6.39 p.m.local time (1539GMT), down 1.72% on a daily basis with demand uncertainty set against increased global oil output.
