Turkish salmon was exported to 14 countries from the Black Sea and reached $81 million 645 thousand

Turkish salmon exports from the Black Sea region increased by 149% in the first 8 months of the year, reaching $81 million 645 thousand 462.

Eastern Black Sea Exporters Union Supervisory Board Member and Fisheries Sector Committee Vice Chairman Ilker Yildirim said that exports were made to 14 countries from the region in 8 months of the year.

Stating that 11,183 tons of Turkish salmon were exported from the Black Sea during this period, Yildirim said that $81 million 645 thousand 462 were gained from this export.

Noting that in the same period of last year, a revenue of $32 million 810 thousand 326 was obtained in return for 6 thousand 243 tons of exports from the region, Yildirim said, “Thus, Turkish salmon exports in the 8 months of the year increased by 79% and 149% in value compared to the same period of the previous year.”

Drawing attention to the market diversity in exports, Yildirim continued as follows:

“The Russian Federation, Vietnam and Japan were the countries with the highest exports. Turkish salmon exports to Russia in this period increased by 131% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching $51 million 867 thousand 465. Exports to Vietnam increased by 97% to $14 million 74 thousand 52, and exports to Japan increased by 233% to $5 million 688 thousand 488.

Yildirim stated that 48% of the region’s exports were carried out from Trabzon, and said:

“5 thousand 312 tons of Turkish salmon were exported from Trabzon to 8 countries, especially the Russian Federation, Vietnam and Japan. A gain of $39 million 179 thousand 130 was obtained from the said exports. In the same period of last year, a revenue of $22 million 224 thousand 868 was obtained from the export of 4 thousand 406 tons of Turkish salmon from the city. Thus, Turkish salmon exports from Trabzon increased by 21% in quantity and 76% in value compared to the same period last year.”

Pointing out that Turkish salmon exports are going well, Yildirim emphasized that their expectations from year-end exports are much higher.
