Cukurova Airport tender has been approved, it will improve air transport in Mersin & Adana

The result of the tender for the construction of the Cukurova Airport superstructure facilities within the framework of the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model, the operation and transfer of the airport was approved by Adil Karaismailoglu, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure.

Favori Business Administration Inc. / Yako Textile Industry and Foreign Trade Inc. Joint Venture, the winner of the tender in the 147th round, pledged to pay €297.1 million plus VAT to State Airports Authority (DHMI), and to invest € 155 million to the airport in exchange for 25 years of operation.

In the statement made by DHMI, it was stated that the Favori Business Administration Inc. / Yako Textile Industry and Foreign Trade Inc. Joint Venture won the tender held for Cukurova Airport on 20 November in the 147th round. The joint venture has committed to pay € 297 million 100 thousand plus VAT, and it was reminded that the tender included the construction, operation and transfer of the superstructure facilities of the airport within the framework of the BOT.

In the statement, it was reported that the tender result was approved by Minister Karaismailoglu. The joint venture will invest a total of € 155 million in the construction of the facility, which is planned to be completed in 3 stages, in addition to the rental fee given for 25 years of operation period. It was emphasized that a valuable step was taken towards making an important aviation project to Turkey with the public-private partnership (PPP) model, which is an alternative financing method.

A very reasonable passenger guarantee table has emerged in the tender, which provides the public interest to the maximum. 2 million 353 thousand 787 domestic departures and 347 thousand 374 international departures were guaranteed in the first year of operation by the company receiving the tender. If there is an occurrence below the specified passenger numbers, guarantee payments to be made over the number of passengers committed is the amount to be paid.

The planned investment period is 2.5 years in total to complete the first stage investments and put the airport into service after the site delivery of the project.

Cukurova Airport will add value to the region. The airport, which will be the gateway to Adana and Mersin to the world, will make Cukurova an important crossroads in air transportation. Cukurova Airport will contribute greatly to the holistic development of both the region and our country.
