Turkish honey is exported to 44 countries

According to the data of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Union (DKIB), 3 thousand 751 tons of honey was exported to 44 countries in the first 8 months; these honey exports are valued at $16 million 593.

Honey exports increased by 19 percent in terms of quantity and 22 percent in terms of value, considering that 3 thousand 142 tons of honey export was valued at $13 million 597 thousand 877 in the same period of 2019. While honey was sent to 39 countries in the same period of 2019, this year it was exported to 44 countries, including Poland and Yemen.

This year’s highest honey export was to Bahrain. The honey exported to Bahrain in the 8-month period of 2019 was valued at $15 thousand 700, this year this export increased by 736 percent and to $131 thousand 263.

$5,7 million worth honey export made to Germany

Ahmet Hamdi Gurdogan, the deputy chairman of DKIB stated that Germany is the country that shows the most interest in Turkish honey. Stating that $5 million 675 thousand 268 of honey was exported to Germany during the 8-month period, Gurdogan said:

‘’ Germany was followed by USA with $3 million 148 thousand 467, and Saudi Arabia with $2 million 715 thousand 365 of honey exports. Our honey export revenue from Germany increased by 45 percent compared to the previous year. The increase in honey export revenue was 24 percent in the USA and 30 percent in Saudi Arabia. “

Pointing out that in spite of Covid-19, honey exports increased by 19 percent on amount basis, Gurdogan said that they believe that the interest in Turkish honey, which stands out with its quality, will continue for the rest of the year.
