Turkish honey earned $15.3 million in 4 months

In Turkey, an income of $15 million 261 thousand 559 was obtained, corresponding to 5 thousand 819 tons of honey exports in the January-April period.

Eastern Black Sea Exporters Union Deputy Chairman of the Board Ahmet Hamdi Gurdogan said that in the first 4 months of the year, honey was sold to 47 countries from Turkey.

Stating that in this period, 5 thousand 819 tons of honey has been obtained in return for $15 million 261 thousand 559, Gurdogan stated that in the same period of last year, 2 thousand 482 tons of honey was sold and $9 million 490 thousand 390 of foreign currency inflow was obtained.

“Honey exports increased by 134% in quantity”

Gurdogan said, “Honey exports increased by 134% in quantity and 61% in value compared to the same period of the previous year. The USA, Germany and Spain were the countries with the highest exports. During this period, $4 million 846 thousand 410 of honey was sold to the USA, $2 million 612 thousand 571 to Spain, $2 million 291 thousand 241 to Spain.

Stating that the increase in honey exports is pleasing, Gurdogan stated that in recent years, the product has gained momentum thanks to the export of branded products.

Gurdogan explained that the diversity of countries in exports also developed positively, and unlike the same period of last year, honey was sent to 16 countries including Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denmark, Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, Switzerland, Taiwan, Mongolia and Portugal.
