Trakya Region Achieves $178 Million in Exports Last Month

The Trakya region, strategically positioned with advantageous sea and land transportation, and bolstered by its advanced industrial sector and increased production capacity, marked an impressive export performance last month. According to data from the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TİM), the provinces of Kırklareli, Edirne, and Tekirdağ collectively generated exports amounting to $178,007,490.

Among the Trakya provinces, Tekirdağ emerged as the leading exporter, followed by Kırklareli in the second position and Edirne in the third.

Export Growth:

  • Tekirdağ’s exports rose from $142,816,930 in February of the previous year to $151,139,050 in the same month this year.
  • Kırklareli witnessed an increase from $15,174,150 in February 2023 to $19,352,320 last month.
  • Edirne’s exports climbed from $6,061,460 in February of the previous year to $7,516,120 in the same month this year.

Sectoral Breakdown:

  • In terms of sectors, Tekirdağ excelled in exporting iron and non-ferrous metals.
  • Kırklareli and Edirne stood out in the export of cereals, legumes, oilseeds, and related products.

Top Export Destinations:

  • Tekirdağ’s major export destinations were Germany ($29,092,630), the United States ($14,446,720), and Spain ($6,271,700).
  • Kırklareli’s primary export partners were Germany ($3,948,700), Bulgaria ($1,841,510), and Kenya ($1,329,320).
  • Edirne’s leading export destinations included Bosnia and Herzegovina ($1,225,970), Bulgaria ($1,056,550), and Greece ($923,810).

The significant growth in exports from the Trakya region underscores the economic strength and diversity of these provinces, positioning them as key contributors to Turkey’s overall export performance.
