The gross sales of companies operating in the construction sector in Turkiye increased by 113.6% in the 2016-2021 period and reached ₺620.8 billion. The asset sizes of the companies, on the other hand, approached ₺2 trillion last year.
According to the information compiled from the results of the “Sector Balance Sheets 2021” research prepared in cooperation with the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye, the gross sales of companies in the construction sector have increased regularly in the last 5 years.
While the total gross sales of these companies were ₺290 billion 647 million 203 thousand in 2016, it reached ₺361 billion 205 million 985 thousand in 2017, ₺436 billion 111 million 145 thousand in 2018, and ₺484 billion 971 million 657 thousand in 2019. In the period when the Kovid-19 epidemic was effective, sector companies managed to increase their sales above ₺500 billion. Companies made sales of ₺503 billion 862 million 784 thousand in 2020, and ₺620 billion 768 million 301 thousand last year.
Thus, the gross sales of these companies have increased by 113.6% in the last 5 years.
In this period, the domestic gross sales made by the companies in the sector increased from ₺266.7 billion to ₺558.7 billion, and international sales from ₺18.9 billion to ₺50.5 billion.
Other revenues under the gross sales sub-item rose from ₺5.1 billion to ₺11.5 billion.
The momentum gained in sales also showed itself in asset increases. During this period, the asset sizes of the companies operating in the construction sector increased from ₺830.1 billion to ₺1.9 trillion, and their equities reached ₺347.3 billion from ₺163.3 billion.
SALES OF REAL ESTATE COMPANIES HAVE ALSO DOUBLED
On the other hand, there was an increase in the sales of companies in the field of real estate activities, which are closely related to the construction sector. The sales of companies operating in this field increased from ₺16.1 billion to ₺53.9 billion in the 2016-2021 period.
The gross domestic sales of these companies increased from ₺15 billion to ₺51.4 billion, and their international sales increased from ₺171.2 million to ₺773.1 million.
Firms in the field of real estate activities have also managed to increase their asset sizes. In this period, the asset sizes of these companies increased by 2.9 times from ₺110.1 billion to ₺317.7 billion.
