Turkish Clothing Manufacturers: Our investment tours will continue in 2022

Saying that 2021 was a successful year in terms of production and export performance, President of Turkish Clothing Manufacturers Association (TGSD) President Ramazan Kaya said, “The supply chain was broken during the pandemic period, Europe-based global brands sought to make their supplies from nearby geographies instead of distant countries in Asia. In this process, Turkey came to the fore as the most ideal option.”

Saying that they are faced with an intense demand for orders, Kaya noted that the sector’s capacity utilization approached the pre-pandemic level with 82.9% in November. Saying that there has been a great vitality in the ready-made clothing domestic market, especially since June, Kaya said, “Our contribution to employment continues in parallel with the increase in production in the sector. We created new employment for 47 thousand people in nine months with new investments.”

Ramazan Kaya said: “As an industry, we are looking for a place in Anatolia for new investments with sustainable green production capacity, which we focus on. Our investment tours, which we started with Elazig and Erzincan under the leadership of TGSD, will continue in 2022 with the Eastern Black Sea and Central Anatolia Regions. At the end of our investigations, we will report our evaluations and share them with our members.”
