Turkiye’s first camera systems production facility was opened

TBMM Industry Trade Energy Natural Resources Information and Technology Commission Chairman Varank said, “We made a rapid entry into the electric vehicle industry with Togg. Thank God, we finally have a vehicle and brand that can compete with the best in the world.”

Turkiye’s first camera systems production facility was opened by Buyutech in the Informatics Valley in Kocaeli’s Gebze district, with a ceremony held with the participation of the Minister of Industry and Technology, Fatih Kacir.

Speaking after the presentation of the founding partners of Buyutech, Omer Orkun Duztas and Alparslan Isikli, on the introduction of the company, Mustafa Varank, Chairman of the Industry, Trade, Energy, Natural Resources, Information and Technology Commission of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and AK Party Bursa Deputy, said that they are striving for a Turkiye that has achieved economic and technological independence, and that they are trying to revive Turkiye with value-added production.

Varank stated that Turkiye’s automobile project Togg emerged as a visionary project that foresees the change that will occur in the automotive industry and continued as follows:

“We have made a rapid entry into the electric vehicle industry with Togg, which set out to establish a mobility system from scratch. Thank God, we finally have a vehicle and brand that can compete with the best in the world. Many domestic manufacturers have joined the Togg family. There were people who made fun of us when we said electric vehicles. We set out saying ‘It is important for Turkiye to produce its own domestic and national vehicle’. Our esteemed President put forward this vision. We also persistently followed it. Manufacturers say, ‘Turkiye making its own automobile is suicide.’ they said. ‘We cannot make our own vehicle and compete.’ They said, but our Mr. President said, ‘I trust Turkiye, I trust its capabilities, we will insist on this.’. It was not easy, he expressed this from the podiums for 6 years and finally such a project emerged.”

Stating that the emergence of startup companies is due to the projects and public support, Varank said, “When I went to the podium in the Turkish Grand National Assembly in 2021 with a vehicle camera from Buyutech in my hand, I said ‘We will use these cameras in Togg.’ I said. When I visited our friends at METU, these friends of ours were working in a tiny office with 12 people. Getting from there to here is possible by working together on these tasks and with the support we provide as a public. Thank God, such an initiative is emerging. At the point we have reached today, production is being carried out by such a company. If Togg was not a vehicle developed 100% by local engineers, we would not be able to integrate technology and cameras into such a vehicle.”

TUSIAD Chairman of the Board of Directors Orhan Turan said that they want to encourage all actors to play an active role in supporting the initiative and establishing cooperation with them so that the entrepreneurship ecosystem in the country can develop.

Stating that startup companies that cannot achieve institutionalization fail to survive in the long term, Turan said, “We see the most important problems facing startups that provide growth potential in our country as capital deficit and the failure to establish a corporate structure. We witness that companies that fail to institutionalize fail to survive in the long term. We know that every step taken to solve these problems will contribute to the economic development of our country.”

TAYSAD Chairman of the Board of Directors, Albert Saydam, likened Buyuktech to a ‘magnificent storm’ and said, “Entrepreneurship, state support, not giving up, even learning from mistakes and opening up to new opportunities; and taking step by step to not give up by creating a network. There is a luck factor in this spectacular storm, but there are also unknown factors. I think Togg is the turning point.”

Gebze District Governor Mehmet Ali Ozyigit, Bilisim Vadisi General Manager Ahmet Serdar Ibrahimcioglu, Fark Holding Chairman Ahu Serter and Buyutech employees attended the opening.
