Turkiye: Confidence index increased in service and retail trade sectors

While the confidence index decreased by 3.3% in the construction sector in December compared to the previous month, it increased by 1.2% in the service sector and 4.5% in the retail trade sector.

Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the service, retail trade and construction confidence indices for December.

Accordingly, while the seasonally adjusted confidence index decreased by 3.3%to 88 in the construction sector on a monthly basis in December, it increased by 1.2% to 112.3 in the service sector and increased by 4.5% to 116.8 in the retail trade sector.

While the seasonally adjusted service sector confidence index was 110.9 in November, it increased to 112.3 in December.

While the business situation index in the service sector did not change in the last three months compared to November this month, the demand expectation for services in the next three months decreased by 0.1%, and the demand for services increased by 3.8% in the last three months.

Retail trade sector confidence index

Seasonally adjusted retail trade sector confidence index, which was 111.7 in November, became 116.8 this month.

In the retail trade sector, while business volume-sales increased by 9.9% in the last three months and business volume-sales expectation in the next three months increased by 3.7%, the current goods stock level decreased by 0.9%.

Seasonally adjusted construction sector confidence index, which was 91 last month, reached 88 this month.

There was a 5.4% decrease in the current level of registered orders received in the construction sector compared to last month, and a 1.5% decrease in the total number of employees expectation sub-index in the next three months.
