Turkish stock exchange up at weekly open

Benchmark index gains around 47.3 points at opening session on Monday

Turkiye’s benchmark stock index opened Monday at 5,673.76 points, up by 0.84%, or 47.27 points, from the last week’s close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index closed Friday at 5,626.49 points, up 1.31%, with a daily trading volume of 89 billion Turkish liras ($3.8 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 23.6480 as of 10.20 a.m. local time (0720GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 25.4580, while a British pound traded for 29.7330 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $73.52 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,974.50.
