Energy import bill decreased by 30.5% in March in Turkiye

The amount paid by Turkiye for energy imports decreased by 30.5% in March compared to the same month of the previous year and decreased to $5 billion 844 million 139 thousand.

According to the temporary foreign trade statistics created by the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Ministry of Trade, Turkiye’s total imports in March increased by 3.4% compared to the same month of the previous year and reached $31 billion 936 million.

$5 billion 844 million 139 thousand of this amount consisted of “mineral fuels, mineral oils and products obtained from their distillation, bituminous substances, mineral waxes”, which is summarized as energy imports.

In March last year, this figure was recorded as $8 billion 410 million 156 thousand. Thus, the amount of energy imports decreased by 30.5% on an annual basis.

On the other hand, crude oil imports decreased by 5.2% in March compared to the same month of the previous year, and decreased to 2 million 528 thousand 964 tons.
