Turkish Defense Industry Achieves Milestones in 2023

The Turkish defense industry marked several significant milestones in 2023 through various projects. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan participated in the ‘İstikbalin Yüzyılı Tanıtım Programı’ held at TUSAŞ facilities. During the event, the National Combat Aircraft “KAAN” taxied to the ceremony area, capturing attention.

In the realm of Turkish defense projects, 2023 witnessed the completion of groundbreaking achievements. The domestically developed Arma II, the first 8×8 military vehicle with a native engine, underwent a 6,000-kilometer driving test, signaling its readiness for serial production. Anadolu Agency (AA) captured the first images of the Arma II 8×8 vehicle, integrating a 720-horsepower indigenous engine, developed by Otokar.

The Turkish Armed Forces welcomed its largest warship, the domestically produced TCG Anadolu, to Izmir Alsancak Port. Accompanied by a military ship, TCG Anadolu entered Izmir Bay in the morning and later docked at Alsancak Port with the assistance of tugs. Recently delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces for testing, TCG Anadolu was prepared for display to the residents of Izmir.

The collaboration between the Turkey Technology Team Foundation (T3) and the Ministry of Industry and Technology resulted in the TEKNOFEST İzmir, an aviation, space, and technology festival. The national helicopter, GÖKBEY, exhibited at the event, garnered significant interest from attendees.

TEKNOFEST, the world’s largest aviation, space, and technology festival, continued at Atatürk Airport on its fourth day. The festival featured Turkey’s first unmanned combat aerial vehicle, Bayraktar Kızılelma, and the Turkish Air Force aerobatic team, SOLOTÜRK.

Within the framework of the “8×8 Wheeled Container Carrier Vehicle (DROPS) Project” initiated by the Defense Industry Presidency (SSB) and led by Koluman Otomotiv Industry Inc., the delivery ceremony for the 13 armored military logistics support vehicles named Derman took place in Mersin.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the New Generation Storm Howitzers Delivery Ceremony at BMC Facility in the Arifiye Campus of the Ministry of National Defense. President Erdoğan inspected the storm howitzers during the event.

TEKNOFEST, the world’s largest aviation, space, and technology festival, continued at Atatürk Airport on its third day. The Bayraktar TB3 UAV, capable of taking off and landing from short runways, was displayed for the first time and attracted significant attention from the public.
