Representatives of the yacht and boat tourism sector await an active season in Bodrum

Representatives of the yacht and boat tourism sector in Mugla’s Bodrum district predict that the season will be hectic with quality service.

With the closure of schools and the approach of the Eid-al-Adha holiday, professional yacht operators completed all their preparations. With its rich fleet of yachts, the operators aim to offer their guests an unforgettable holiday this year, as they do every year.

Gunes Aysun, President of All Yacht Managers, Investors, Brokers and Agencies Association, told Anadolu Agency (AA) that the yacht tourism season has started to intensify.

Expressing that they expect a great increase in both domestic and foreign tourists during the Eid al-Adha holiday, Aysun noted that they are ready for the density as the crew, boat and sector.

Explaining that the busiest period of the yacht tourism industry starts in June and lasts until mid-September, Aysun said, “Our main ports are Bodrum, Marmaris, Gocek, Fethiye, Bozburun and Antalya. There are approximately 1500 certified gulets in these regions. Not all of these may be active, but most go on tours during high season. We say that this year is going a little slower compared to previous years, but we think that the industry will continue to be busy again with last minute bookings.”

“It is important that the boat you entrust your life to has a commercial license”

Touching on the issues to be considered while renting a yacht, Aysun said:

“One of the most important issues is that the boat you rent and entrust your life to must be a commercial licensed yacht. Many things differ between commercial and private yachts in terms of safety equipment, personnel and insurance. We recommend that they rent and tour boats that are commercially licensed, suitable for sea, inspected by port authorities and managed by professional staff. In the same way, we recommend that they make reservations through the agencies that have a document while organizing this holiday. Do not believe in misleading advertisements on social media. I invite everyone to a holiday in Turkiye. The shores of Turkiye are a paradise. We welcome those who do not come here. I have traveled to many places. Turkiye’s coasts are really both sheltered and very special. We expect occupancy rates to exceed 80% between July and August.”

“We are in a good place in terms of service quality”

Alev Semiz, the owner of an agency that has been operating in the maritime sector for 15 years, who rents and sells boats, also stated that they expect a busy season.

Stating that they host guests from Europe, the USA and Arab countries, especially domestic holidaymakers, Semiz said, “We can meet the expectations of the holidaymakers in the best way possible.

The coasts in Turkiye do not exist in many countries. We are a nation that knows the quality of service very well. We are in a really good place in terms of service quality, speed and personnel adequacy. We also have a fleet that will meet the expectations of holidaymakers, and our teams are also good.”
