Travel time between Ankara and Istanbul will be reduced to 1.5 hours by “super high speed train”

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoglu said, “This will be a completely new line and the travel time will take 89 minutes, or 1.5 hours, with the super-high-speed train line to be built between Ankara and Istanbul.”

Karaismailoglu, in his written statement, stated that they are planning not only today but also the future in railways, as in all transportation modes.

Emphasizing that they have focused on railway investments during the AK Party governments for the last 20 years, Karaismailoglu reminded that they introduced Turkiye to high-speed trains. Karaismailoglu, “Railways are a part of our lives. Our goal is to develop it, to spread the comfort of high-speed trains all over Turkiye, and to bring Turkiye through a new age in railways.”

Expressing that they continue to produce projects in line with this goal, Karaismailoglu noted that one of the projects is the super-high-speed train line.

Karaismailoglu gave the following information about the project:

“This will be a completely new line. The line will be built on the Ankara Nallihan and Sakarya route. We made the feasibility and prepared the projects. The length of the super-high-speed train line will be 344 kilometers. Within the scope of the project, we will construct 19 viaducts with a length of 14 kilometers and 52 tunnels with a length of 120 kilometers. The train will reach a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. Travel time with the super-high-speed train line to be built between Ankara and Istanbul will take 89 minutes, ie 1.5 hours. We will start our project after the election. We will continue to use our existing high-speed train line.”

Our goals are big

Emphasizing that they will continue to serve Turkiye with mega projects after May 14, as they have done for 20 years, Karaismailoglu said, “Our country’s goals are big. That’s why we will sign bigger projects. We have already planned for them, too. With our mega projects, we will continue to support our economy, employment, industry and exports in the future, as we did yesterday. We will be hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder as a nation.”
