Turkey’s industrial production index increased by 5.4% on a monthly basis

The industrial production index increased by 5.4% on a monthly basis and by 13.8% on an annual basis in August.

Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the industrial production index results for August.

Accordingly, in August, calendar adjusted industrial production increased by 13.8% compared to the same month of the previous year.

When the sub-sectors of the industry are analyzed, the mining and quarrying sector index increased by 9.4%, the manufacturing industry index increased by 14.2%, and the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning production and distribution sector index increased by 9.4% in August compared to the same month of the previous year.

The unadjusted industrial production index also increased by 19.9% on an annual basis.

MONTHLY DATA IN INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION

Seasonally and calendar adjusted industrial production increased by 5.4% in August compared to July.

When the sub-sectors of the industry are analyzed, the manufacturing industry index increased by 6.3% in the same period, while the mining and quarrying sector index decreased by 1.7% and the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning production and distribution sector index decreased by 0.2% compared to the previous month.

Economists participating in the AA Finans Industrial Production Expectation Survey expected the calendar adjusted industrial production index to increase by 9.31% in August compared to the same period of the previous year. In August, the unadjusted industrial production index was expected to increase by 13.07% on an annual basis.
