According to the BMI Business School Istanbul statement, the results of the Fortune Turkey “Most Effective 50 CMOs” research, which is the marketing leg of the research series conducted on Turkey’s largest thousand companies since 2016, has been announced in collaboration with DataExpert.

The research, which was carried out to draw attention to the role and importance of marketing managers that make a difference in the business world, reveals that the epidemic process that affected the whole world in 2020 also affected the marketing function. As a result of the research, the budgets allocated to digital by the managers in the “Most Effective 50 CMO” list in 2020, increased by 74% compared to the previous year. It seems that the change in consumer habits due to the epidemic has had an effect on the increase.

Almost half of them are women executives

According to the statement, 48% of the marketing managers in the 2021 list determined by their performance, within the framework of the criteria determined by the Research Advisory Board consisting of industry experts and academicians, are women.

The list includes successful names of many national and international companies such as Eczacibasi Consumer Products, Google, Hayat Kimya, Mercedes-Benz, Microsoft, Nestle, Pasabahce, Reckitt Benckiser, Turkcell, Ulker, Vestel, and Yapi Kredi.

56% of them work in local companies

Chief Marketing Officers (CMO), who work in companies that have significant contributions to Turkey’s economy, manage an average of 12% of the total budgets in these companies.

56% of the CMOs on the list are employed by Turkish brands.

The proportion of graduate students is increasing

According to the information conveyed in the statement, the ratio of those who made a master’s degree among the 50 Most Effective CMOs in Turkey rose to 70. This rate was around 61 last year. The ratio of MBA graduates among the graduate students was 77.

26% of Turkey’s Most Effective 50 CMOs were registered as Bogazici University graduates. Bogazici University was followed by Middle East Technical University (20%), Istanbul Technical University (12%), Marmara University (10%), and Bilkent University (6%).

The award ceremony is on March 23

Among the departments in which managers on the lists graduated, industrial engineering takes the lead with 18%. Industrial engineering was followed by economics and business with 16%, electrical and electronics engineering with 8%, and political science with 6%.

According to the statement, the “Most Effective 50 CMO” award ceremony will take place at the CMO Summit 2021 to be held on March 23rd.
