Turkey’s domestic tourism spending were 4B liras for the first 3 months of 2020

Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) presented the January- March 2020 survey results of ‘’Domestic inside Tourism’’.

The number of people that went to domestic trips with staying overnight in the first quarter of 2020 is 7 million 958 thousand and decreased by 43.5 percent compared to 2019’s first quarter.

The average spending per trip is recorded as 510 liras

There were 75 million 346 thousand overnights in the first quarter. The average number of overnights was 9.5 and the average expense of per trip was recorded as 510 liras.

The trip spending of the domestic tourists was 4 billion 61 million 93 thousand liras in the first quarter of 2020 and decreased by 41.9 percent compared to 2019’s first quarter. Trip expenses were made as personal or package tours.

Personal spending were 3 billion 900 million 318 thousand liras and covered the 96 percent of domestic tourism expenses while package tour spending were 160 million 775 thousand liras and covered the 4 percent.

74.4 percent of the trips were family visitings, 11.4 percent was for vacation reasons and 7.4 percent was for health reasons.

People stayed overnight in the friend or relative houses

People stayed overnight in the friend or relative houses; the number of these overnights was 61 million 98 thousand in the first quarter. Accommodation types and numbers of this period were; 7 million 502 thousand as personal housing and 2 million 161 thousand as hotel.
