Turkey’s carpet makers are confident with the annual export target of $3 billion

Selahattin Kaplan, the president of Turkish Exporters’ Assembly Carpet Sector, said that they are maintaining the target annual export value of $3 billion and they hope that the sector will recover more in the remaining half of 2020.

Turkey Carpet Sector Committee gathered via online teleconference system under Kaplan’s lead and İsmail Gülle, the president of Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) also attended this teleconference, in which the negative effects of the pandemic regarding the carpet sector and the recovery process that started in June were discussed. Kaplan said:

‘’ 2020’s target annual carpet export value of $3 billion will not be revised; we will make an effort for this aim. Carpet export worth $1 billion 46 million 178 thousand to 158 countries was made in the first half of 2020. The carpet export in June is valued at $195 million 175 thousand and increased by 47.4 percent compared to June 2019; this increase holds an important position in our sector. Machine-woven carpet export worth $171 million 483 thousand, tufted carpet export worth $371 thousand, hand-made carpet export worth $1 million 842 thousand and rug export worth $480 thousand were made in June 2020.’’
