Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul up 1.68% at Friday’s close

BIST 100 index gains 24.51 points from previous close

Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed at 1,479.93 points on Friday, up 1.68% from the previous day, to mark its highest closing since Sept. 3.

Starting the day at 1,456.07 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index gained 24.51 points from Thursday’s close of 1,455.42 points.

The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,453.97 points and its daily high was 1,484.89 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was over 1.16 trillion Turkish liras ($125.6 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of more than 21.67 billion Turkish liras ($2.25 billion).

A total of 88 stocks on the index rose, eight fell, and four remained unchanged compared to Thursday’s close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and oil refiner Tupras.

Shares of pipe and tube producer Erbosan performed the best, rising 9.97%,while stocks of carmaker Ford Otosan dropped the most, 0.85%.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,804.10 by market close, up from $1,782.70 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was up 0.17% to $84.75 per barrel as of 6.46 p.m. local time (1546GMT).
