Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul closes Wednesday with losses

BIST 100 loses around 13 points from previous close

Turkiye’s benchmark stock index ended Wednesday at 2,002.24 points, down 0.65% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 2,028.88 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index lost 13.19 points from Tuesday’s close of 2,015.43 points.

The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,994.31 points, while its daily high was 2,032.68.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.6 trillion Turkish liras ($120 billion) by market close,with a daily trading volume of over 27.3 billion Turkish liras ($2 billion).

During the third transaction day of the week, 26 stocks on the index rose and 74 fell, compared to Tuesday’s close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by private lenders Garanti BBVA and Yapi Kredi, and flag carrier Turkish Airlines.

Software and information technology firm ARD Grup Bilisim Teknolojileri was the best performer with its shares up 7.32%, while stocks of real estate investment firm Is Bankasi Gayrimenkul Yatirim Ortakligi A.S. saw the sharpest drop – 5.92%.

Price of one ounce of gold was at $1,805 with a 0.25% gain at 6.22 p.m. local time (1522 GMT).

Price of Brent crude oil was around $88.91 per barrel with a 0.3% loss at the same time.
